Verónica Vargas
Verónica Vargas is the principal of Vargas Strategic Consulting, LLC. She is a focused leader with over 20 years of experience developing and executing crime prevention and intervention, re-entry, and therapeutic programming for national and international delegations, agencies, and individuals, as well as domestic and international settings, including with USAID. Verónica’s passion and dedication have led her to a life-long career of serving, addressing, and enriching the lives of disconnected youth, marginalized communities, and underrepresented populations.
Experience
Provide general consultation, content expertise, strategy development, and implementation planning to the Juvenile Justice Strategy Group’s Ending the Youth Prison Model. Veronica works directly with Juvenile Court Judges, Probation Departments, and Administrators to encourage investment in effective community interventions as an alternative to state correctional confinement.
Served in multiple capacities over ten years, including Interim Director of Development, Interim Executive Director, Chief Operating Officer, and Director of External Affairs. Provided direction to the Founder and Executive Team on issues critical to the organization’s growth, including research, trends, and policy advocacy. She also functioned as the liaison to state and city government, and the community, and participated on numerous advisory boards and initiatives to provide guidance on gang intervention, re-entry, and Homeboy Industries’ comprehensive therapeutic model of crime and violence intervention. The Homeboy Global Network was developed under her leadership.
